Replacing Teeth
Teeth can be lost to decay, fracture, accidental trauma and periodontal (gum) disease. Here at Juniper Dental Care, options to replace missing teeth include:
Dentures
Acrylic teeth are connected to a plate and this can be used to replace single or multiple teeth (partial denture) or a full arch of teeth (full denture). They are removable devices that can be made of acrylic, metal and flexible acrylic.
Bridges
This involves preparation of teeth either side of a space to provide a fixed artificial tooth that is cemented to the adjacent tooth/teeth. They feel more natural than dentures as they have the same dimensions as natural teeth.
Implants
These are small titanium devices that mimic natural roots of teeth. They are secured into the jaw and can be used to attach crowns and bridges to replace missing teeth. The biggest advantage over dentures and bridges is they can match the function and appearance of natural teeth without having to involve other teeth. They can be used for patients who struggle with full dentures but helping secure them into place.
